24hr day of prayer
On the November 23rd the church here at Roxeth came together to pray for 24 hours from Friday 00.00am to 12 midnight the following evening.
We were joining with the 24/7 prayer movement that staged a giant prayer meeting earlier this year at West Ham United’s Upton Park Ground. Many churches across London have pledged to play for a 24 hour period on different days of 2007.
30 members of the church here prayed for at least an hour each across through the night and day.
Four prayer stations provided some focus for our prayers:
One was simply a table with candles, another focused upon the youth work at Roxeth, a third focused on the city of London, the last on the church and our local community.
Oswald Chambers has written, “Prayer does not fit us for the greater work, prayer is the greater work.”
On November 23rd we got to work, a work we are determined to continue.
