The Alpha Course
Our spring-summer 2010 Alpha Course has finished now, but we hope to run another Alpha course soon.
For those who have come to faith we are pleased to be running a follow-up course to Alpha called “A life worth living” which is also produced by Holy Trinity Brompton, the creators of the Alpha Course. It runs for 9 weeks and will be on Tuesday evenings from mid September to mid November and will be led by Doug Musgrove, one of the Alpha Course leaders. If you are a Christian and feel you would benefit from a course looking at what the Christian life really means, this course would be great for you. It explores the books of Philippians in looking into the new life we are called to by God. If you are interested please get in contact with us to come along.
If you are interested in attending the Life worth living course, a daytime Alpha Course or an evening Alpha Course please contact the church office on 020 8864 7037.
So, what is the Alpha course?
Over 8 million people have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.
Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed, non-threatening setting over twelve thought-provoking weekly sessions and a longer day away.
It is low-key, friendly and fun – and is supported by all the main Christian denominations.
It is built upon two foundations – friendliness and informality. It is a chance to step back each week from the rush and busyness of life to think about some of the bigger and deeper questions we might have with a group of like-minded people. Each week there is a talk on an aspect of the Christian faith (e.g. “Who is Jesus?”, “How can I be sure of my faith?”, “Why and how should I pray?”, “Does God heal today?”). During the last part of each session we break into small groups of about 8 -10 people to freely share our opinions about the week’s subject.
