Spring 2008 - Turbo Cell Training
One of the main tasks of leaders is to train new leaders.
Otherwise what they do is, in the words of John Wesley, build with a “rope of sand”. The ministry God does through them ends when they stop ministering.
Jesus was different.
He spent a very large proportion of his time during his ministry with just a small number of his disciples, teaching and training them to continue his ministry after him.
To give us at Roxeth the ability to make room for new cell members in new cells it is vital to teach and train new leaders for those cells.
The eight week Turbo cell training does just that – it trains cell members how to lead cells.
But it does it in a way very close to Jesus’ own method of training:
Jesus showed his disciples the work of God’s kingdom by doing it himself.
He then had his followers join him in doing the work.
Finally, he sent them out to do the work themselves in his name.
Over the Turbo cell training course the group become a real, though temporary, cell for the duration of the training. The course leader leads the first few meetings which cover some basic cell group ideas.
Then the leader and group members share in leading the meeting, reflecting at the end on how things went.
Towards the end of the course, the members are leading the cell themselves with the leader just facilitating the reflection.
We will be running the Turbo cell training in the spring of next year, and pray that we will see our cells grow as new leaders and assistant leaders develop their God given gifts and ministries.
